L-13: LIMITATIONS ON SOURCE AND TIME FOR CREDIT ACQUISITION

Senate Policy 83-80.5 authorizes college deans, campus chancellors, and program faculty to specify up to 24 credits of course work in a major that must be taken at the campus location or in the college or program where the degree is earned. Individual courses:

• may not be specified, except for a senior seminar or capstone course required for the given major;
• must be indicated on the Recommended Academic Plan for the major, at the major description site of the On-line University Bulletin, and on any printed or electronic departmental/college materials that include graduation requirements; and
• should also be reviewed with students at appropriate academic advising sessions, such as summer new student orientation, college meetings, and individual and group academic advising sessions.

If a student believes that Senate Policy 83-80.5 is not being followed, she or he should bring the concern to the attention of the undergraduate associate dean of the college in which the program is housed.
